The blockade of Qatar in 2017 made 5 June a date that is synonymous with resilience and a remarkable sense of unity and solidarity. In that vein, for this year’s 5/6 Initiative we encourage artists to work around an overarching theme of community.

  • Artists will only be considered if their proposal meets the checklist at a minimum.
  • Artists can be at any stage of their career but must possess strong skills to execute the proposed project.
  • This opportunity is for artists residing in Qatar (applicants must hold a valid Qatar residence permit).
  • The successful applicants will receive a commission contract to execute the proposed public artwork.

Past Commissions include:

Guillaume Rousere at Msheireb Metro Station, Shua’a Ali in Msheireb and Shouq Al Mana in Lusail.
