Salman Al-Malek (b.1958) is a renowned visual artist and cartoonist from Qatar. His works can be found in collections at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), as well as other museums and cultural spaces across the world.

Located along the Doha waterfront, Toub Toub Ya Bahar is inspired by an old song from Qatar about waiting, sung by women waiting for sailors and divers to come home. It translates to “Oh sea, have mercy on the sailors!”
