Coming from fifteen different countries and selected from a global open call with nearly 1,000 applications, the artists began their journey in October 2025. With studios at Fire Station: Centre for Contemporary Art Practices, they have also had access to a diverse selection of invited international curators, artists, academics, and architects supporting them as mentors.

As a temporary community of artists, they have debated, practised, created, cooked and shared together throughout this period, and through these wide-ranging encounters, AISP aims to be a transformative moment in their artistic development.

For many of the AISP artists, the work in the exhibition responds to this time directly – it is inspired by desert and coastal landscapes, sublime sunsets from studio windows, a temporary life in a hotel room, and the discovery of Doha’s industrial area.

For others, the work remains tied to more personal identities – lives entwined with histories of migration and generational narratives here come together with geopolitical discourse and observations of Qatar’s multiplicity of communities, to create rich artworks developed here.

Set across Fire Station’s five exhibition spaces and its courtyard, the exhibition maps the results of the experience of the past year for these artists. Neither linear nor grouped by theme or material, the presentation nevertheless aims to highlight synergies fostered in the programme, while also allowing each artist space to present an ambitious new work.
