Sheikh Thani bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani
Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of Qatar Museums

His Excellency Sheikh Thani bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani is a senior member of the Qatari royal family and serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD). In this role, he leads Qatar’s global efforts in humanitarian aid and international development, advancing partnerships that support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Under his strategic guidance, QFFD has evolved into a trusted global development partner, engaging with key institutions such as the United Nations, ICRC, and ILO to address global crises, promote social protection, and build resilient communities. He has been instrumental in positioning Qatar as a leading contributor to multilateral humanitarian work, with recent initiatives including a multi-million-dollar core funding agreement with UNRWA to support education and healthcare for Palestinian refugees.

Beyond his role at QFFD, H.E. Sheikh Thani serves on the board of Dukhan Bank, contributing to the strategic growth of Qatar’s financial sector. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees at the Doha Film Institute (DFI), reflecting his commitment to cultural and youth development. Sheikh Thani holds a bachelor’s degree in communication and Middle Eastern Studies from Northwestern University in Qatar. As the son of His Highness the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, he represents a new generation of Qatari leadership focused on global engagement, sustainable development, and cultural innovation.

Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad
Member of the Board of Trustees

Her Excellency Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad was appointed Minister of State for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs pursuant to Amiri Order No. (4) of 2024. She was also appointed vice-chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) under Amiri Decision No. 78 of 2024.

Previously, H.E. Al Misnad served as Minister of Social Development and Family (2021) and has held numerous leadership roles, including Executive Director of the Administrative and Financial Sector at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, Executive Director of the Orphan Care Center (Dreama), Executive Director of the Center for Protection and Rehabilitation from Violence Against Women and Children (AMAN), Regional Director of Communication and Awareness Campaigns at Education Above All Foundation, Director of the Media and Communication Department at the Social Rehabilitation Center (Al-Aween), and Executive Director of the Childhood Cultural Center.

H.E. Al Misnad serves on key national committees, including the Childhood Committee of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, and on advisory boards at Hamad Bin Khalifa University and the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies. She has received multiple awards, including the International Ambassador for Orphans Award (twice), the International Social Responsibility Excellence Award (2021), the Human Efficiency Award, and the International Honorary Award for Empowering Persons with Disabilities. She has led initiatives supporting orphans, the elderly, disadvantaged communities, and persons with disabilities, and has represented Qatar on several international committees.

H.E. Al Misnad holds a bachelor’s degree in Humanities and English Literature from Qatar University and an executive master’s degree in Strategic Planning and Business Administration from HEC Paris.

His Excellency Mr Saad bin Ali Al Kharji
Member of the Board of Trustees

H.E. Saad bin Ali Al Kharji is the Chairman of Qatar Tourism, appointed by the Amiri Decision effective from 22 October 2023. He brings extensive experience and expertise from a distinguished career in government and administration. Prior to his current role, H.E. Al Kharji served as the Deputy Chairman of Qatar Tourism, demonstrating his commitment to advancing the tourism sector’s objectives. He has held several key positions within the Qatari government, including Director of the Prime Minister’s Office, Director of the Office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Director of the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office, and Director of the Assistant Secretary of State for International Cooperation Affairs, contributing significantly to Qatar’s national development and international cooperation efforts. H.E. Al Kharji also serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for Qatar Museums. H.E. Al Kharji graduated from Qatar University with a bachelor of Business Administration. His extensive experience, proven leadership, and dedication to public service position him as a key member of Qatar Tourism, where his strategic insights continue to advance the country’s tourism sector.

Mr Meshaal Mohammed Al Mahmoud
Member of the Board of Trustees

Meshaal Mohammed Al-Mahmoud has extensive experience in finance and economic affairs, holding key positions within Qatar’s economic sector. Since 2013, he has served as an advisor at the Supreme Council of Economic Affairs and Investment, providing strategic guidance on economic policies and investments. Previously, he was manager of the Project Finance and Investment Department at Qatar Energy, overseeing investment activities and financing for LNG projects and other major ventures in the petrochemical and power sectors. Mr Al-Mahmoud joined Qatar Energy in 2000 and has played a vital role on various state and corporate boards and committees. From 2021 to 2023, he contributed as a member of the Board Strategy & Policy Committee of Qatar Museums (QM). Known for his strategic leadership, Mr Al-Mahmoud anticipates future trends, applies strategic thinking, maintains flexibility, and collaborates effectively to implement changes that ensure long-term success and financial stability. He holds a degree in Finance from Suffolk University.

Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Meer
Member of the Board of Trustees

H.E. Eng. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Meer is the President of the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) in Qatar, bringing over 22 years of experience in project management. He has overseen major projects, including those related to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, and held leadership positions across the project and construction sectors. He began his career at Qatar Gas, progressing to serve as Deputy Director of Engineering Affairs for the Qatar Gas 2 project. He later joined Aspire Zone as Chief Executive Officer of Katara projects (Cultural Village) and chaired the Katara-Lusail Towers Project Management Committee, which hosted official delegations for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ until late 2024. H.E. Al-Meer holds a cachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Colorado, United States, and an executive master’s in Project Management from the University of Houston. He has completed professional programmes in organisational leadership from Oxford University, the Executive Leadership Program from Carnegie Mellon University, and the Leadership and Talent Management Program under the supervision of the Office of His Highness the Personal Representative of His Highness the Amir.

Mohammed bin Hassan Al Malki
Member of the Board of Trustees

His Excellency Mohammed bin Hassan Al Malki is the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, appointed by Amiri Decree No. (1) of 2024. Prior to this appointment, H.E. Al Malki served as Assistant Undersecretary for Trade Affairs since March 2023 and as Assistant Undersecretary for Industrial Affairs in 2019. He has held numerous leadership positions in strategic planning, business development, and relationship management, including Head of Business Planning and Development Affairs at the Economic Zones Company (Manateq) and Head of Strategic Planning Department at Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA). He has also held positions in specifications, standards, planning, and geographic information systems for water networks. H.E. Al Malki holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom (2012), and a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Qatar University (2002). He serves on several boards, including Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Economic Zones Company, and as a member of the boards of Qatar University Holdings Company, Qatar Central Bank, Qatar Free Zones, Qatar Financial Centre, and Qatar Development Bank.

Reem Mohammed Al Mansoori
Member of the Board of Trustees

Reem Mohammed Al Mansoori is the Assistant Undersecretary for Digital Industry Affairs at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) in Qatar. She has held board positions with Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, Al Jazeera Network, Qatar National Library, and the University of Doha for Science and Technology. She is also an active member of the National Committee for Women, Children, Elderly, and Persons with Disabilities.

Al Mansoori leads Qatar’s Digital Agenda 2030 (DA2030), focusing on enhancing the digital skills of the workforce, improving digital competency across society, and developing a competitive digital industry. She oversees the TASMU Smart Qatar programme, which promotes sector-wide integration through innovative solutions to create a cohesive digital ecosystem that supports sustainable development and improves quality of life.

She has served as a member of the Shura Council and as ambassador of Women Political Leaders in Qatar (WPL), advocating for women’s empowerment, peace, and human rights. Al Mansoori holds a master’s Degree in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Plymouth and an executive MBA from HEC Paris.

Mr Abdulla Al Najjar
Member of the Board of Trustees

Abdulla Al-Najjar holds multiple significant positions, reflecting his extensive experience and leadership across various sectors. As Head of the Strategic Office for Consultation and Follow-up within the Office of His Highness the Personal Representative of His Highness the Amir, he plays a pivotal role in advising and facilitating strategic initiatives at the highest levels of government. In his capacity as General Coordinator of the Facilitation Committee within the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, Mr Al-Najjar oversees critical aspects of major projects, ensuring seamless coordination and effective implementation. Additionally, as Executive Director of the Corporate Identity and International Communication Sector at Al Jazeera Media Network, he manages diverse portfolios and drives organisational growth. He holds a master’s degree in Business Administration with honours from the University of Plymouth, United Kingdom, which, together with his professional experience, equips him with the strategic mindset and analytical skills necessary for his multifaceted roles. Mr Al-Najjar’s strategic expertise, leadership, and commitment to excellence make him a valuable member of the board of trustees, contributing to the organisation’s success in implementing strategic initiatives and advancing international communication.

Museum Presidents

His Excellency Mr Mansoor bin Ibrahim bin Saad Al Mahmoud
President of the National Museum of Qatar

His Excellency Mr Mansoor bin Ibrahim bin Saad Al Mahmoud was appointed as Minister of Public Health on 12 November 2024. He has held several prominent positions, including serving as the Chief Executive Officer of the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) from September 2018 until his appointment as Minister of Public Health. During his tenure, the QIA focused its investment strategy on diversification efforts and investments aligned with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards. Previously, His Excellency held the positions of Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Museums, Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Development Bank, and Director of the Investment Affairs Office for His Excellency the former Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. He currently serves as Vice Chairman of Qatar Airways Board of Directors, Chairman of Katara Hospitality, and as a member of the Board of Trustees of Hamad Bin Khalifa University, the Qatar Research, Development, and Innovation Council (QRDI), and the Board of Directors of Qatar National Bank (QNB).

His Excellency holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Finance from George Washington University in the United States.

His Excellency Sheikh Hassan bin Mohammad bin Ali Al Thani
President of Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art

His Excellency Sheikh Hassan bin Mohamed bin Ali Al Thani is a Qatari artist, collector, researcher, and educator in the field of modern art from the Arab world, India and Asia. Sheikh Hassan studied "Art of the 20th Century" in a course at Qatar University in the mid-1980s. At that time, there was little information about Arab modern art, and there was not one single institution dedicated to Arab modern art in the whole region of the Middle East and North Africa. He then decided to build his own collection and expand his knowledge of Arab modern art by sponsoring and promoting Arab artists. Now his multi-billion-dollar art collection is one of the most valuable and extensive in the Middle East. He is Vice Chairperson of Qatar Museums, Advisor for Cultural Affairs at Qatar Foundation, and founder of Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art.

His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Ali bin Saud Al Thani
President of the Lusail Museum

His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Thani, Ph.D., serves as Advisor in the Amiri Diwan in Doha, Qatar.  He is Chair of the Executive Board and Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Qatar University. He is a member of the Board of Directors and Managing Director of Qatar Leadership Centre, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies –Tarsheed.

Dr. Al Thani held many positions at Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, where he served as Vice President for Education for 10 years (2005-15), laying the strategic foundations for higher education and research. From 2010 to 2015, Dr. Al Thani served as the founding President of Hamad Bin Khalifa University in Qatar, an emerging research university built upon unique collaborations with local and international partners.

Her Excellency Dr. Hessa bint Sultan Al Jaber
President of the Qatar Auto Museum

Her Excellency, Dr. Hessa Al Jaber is the first Minister of Information and Communications Technology in Qatar, following the formation of the new cabinet in 2013 by His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar. Her Excellency is the third Qatari woman to hold a ministerial portfolio in Qatar.

Prior to becoming the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Dr. Hessa Al Jaber was Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Information & Communication Technology (ICT Qatar) since its inception in 2005.
