KAWS engages audiences with a prolific body of work which straddles the worlds of art and design; including e paintings, murals, graphic and product design, street art, and large-scale sculptures. Drawing from a lexicon of cartoon imagery and pop culture, KAWS mirrors society’s joys, sorrows and anxieties with his cast of hybridized characters.
THE PROMISE depicts a parent and child captivated by the globe. By imbuing familiar cartoon devices with lifelike human emotion, the universally relatable imagery of the sculpture aims to touch upon themes of family, environmentalism, global citizenship, responsibility, and love.
Commissioned for Dadu Children’s Museum of Qatar, the artwork provides an important reminder for adults and children alike, of their responsibility to care for and love one another and their home, Earth.
