The Art Residency exhibition is one of Qatar Museums' most prominent art exhibits. This year, the exhibition is called "Grey Times". The title sheds light on how working during on an ambiguous and unstable ground, where the future is uncertain.
For artists, the grey oscillates between clarity and mystery. Some resident artists put 'personality' under experiment by questioning themselves, their status, memories and childhood while in isolation during the rapid global spread of the Covid-19 epidemic. At the same time, others explored and examined the surrounding community and the larger community. These two approaches have resulted in numerous artworks and projects, including oil paintings, drawings, sculptures, installations, video and photography works. These will strongly reflect the concept of creativity in times of isolation and the idea of adapting to unprecedented changes in life and creativity.
The exhibition "Grey Times" features 18 artists and the show opens on January 20, 2021, until July 1, 2021.
As part of the "Grey Times" exhibition, the Learning & Outreach Department at Qatar Museums joins the resident artists in discussing with the visual art teachers for the preparatory and secondary schools. We are providing teachers with a rare opportunity to be inspired by the artists' works and techniques; there are only ten seats available. Be the first to sign up to this limited event.
