One of the most respected names in the world of showjumping, Sheikh Ali Bin Khalid Al Thani is known for unmatched equestrian skills and unwavering dedication. He has made it his life's mission to make Qatar proud.

Sheikh Ali Bin Khalid Al Thani

Sheikh Ali's love for horses began when he was just eight years old. Like many young riders, he felt a deep connection with the animals and the sport. However, it was at the age of 17 that he discovered his true passion for showjumping. This was the turning point that set him on the path to becoming one of Qatar’s most successful equestrians.

Over the years, Sheikh Ali’s talent and dedication helped grow the popularity of showjumping in Qatar. As his skills improved, so did the sport’s recognition in the country. He quickly became a role model for young Qatari riders.

One of the defining moments of Sheikh Ali's career came in 2016 when he was part of Qatar's first equestrian team to compete in the Rio 2016 Summer Olympic Games. He was also Qatar’s flag bearer at the Olympics’ Pride of Nations.

On display are the helmet worn by Sheikh Ali and the prestigious rosette ribbon awarded to him at the Rio 2016 Summer Olympic Games.

The helmet on display was worn by Sheikh Ali during the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, where he competed in both the Individual Jumping and Team Jumping events. Designed for protection, it covers part of the rider’s face and the base of the skull.

Alongside this, the rosette ribbon was awarded to him in the Individual Jumping competition at Rio 2016, where he secured sixth place with his favourite horse, First Devision. This accomplishment not only showcased his individual talent but also marked a significant milestone for Qatar’s presence in the international equestrian world.

Today, Sheikh Ali continues to represent Qatar at top competitions around the world as a key member of the elite national showjumping team, Doha Fursan Qatar.
