The Museum of Islamic Art is temporarily closed while we carry out an exciting relaunch project. Thanks to the wonders of technology, you can still visit the galleries via our new interactive experience.

MIA houses one of the best collections of Islamic art in the world, containing true masterpieces that span three continents and several centuries and represent the richness and diversity of Islamic heritage.

Our new interactive 3D model gives visitors an opportunity to learn about the museum’s collections, glide through its corridors and permanent galleries, and explore the magnificence of the building’s architecture inside and out, all from the comfort of their computers, mobile phones or other screens.

This virtual tour allows visitors to contemplate the objects closely and from all angles and dimensions, to view their history, and to learn information about each work in a seamless way.

This new experience is, of course, an important testament to the history of the Museum of Islamic Art, which is considered a symbol of Qatar and a source of pride in its unique collection.

Dr. Julia Gonnella, Director of the Museum of Islamic Art, is thrilled that this 3D virtual tour will help visitors enjoy both the distinctive architecture of the Museum and the truly remarkable collections.

"We realize the importance of the museum being accessible to its visitors during maintenance and renovation work, hence the idea of creating this virtual experience,” she said. “We look forward to the return of life to the corridors of the museum again and to welcome its visitors in a new way."
