The 31st Doha International Book Fair (DIBF) will take place at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC) from 13–22 January. This is an annual event that invites publishers from around the globe to share their latest books with the public in a beautifully decorated space. The Publications Department of Qatar Museums will also have a booth at DIBF, number (58) gate (2), to introduce our wide range of books and catalogues for art and culture lovers of all ages.

Who can attend?

Everyone! We offer children’s books, artist monographs, exhibition catalogues and Qatari culture and heritage publications, among other things. Families are invited to purchase new books for the home, while teachers and other educators can add new titles to their school library.

Please note that visitors to the exhibition are required to register in advance via the DIBF website.

What can visitors expect?

Qatar Museums has organised a number of fun art workshops and book talks for the public. Some of our offerings include Arabic calligraphy classes, ‘coffee talks’ with artists, magazine cover workshops, book panel discussions and storytelling sessions for children. Are there special offerings for teachers?

Teachers will appreciate our exciting range of art, culture and heritage books suitable for the classroom or school library. We offer a wide range of beautifully illustrated children’s books on Qatari traditional culture and local wildlife. Qatar Museums also publishes catalogues on objects and paintings of historical importance, Arab modern art and exhibition catalogues featuring globally important artists. Teachers and other educators are invited to participate in our ever-popular DIBF events, including panel discussions, art workshops and book talks/presentations.

What about families and children?

We offer many books just for kids. We have beautifully illustrated children’s books featuring local wildlife such as dugongs and caracals. You can also buy books introducing key aspects of traditional Qatari culture, including Garangao, a children’s holiday similar to Halloween. Families are also invited to participate in art workshops and storytelling sessions organised by the Museum of Islamic Art, the National Museum of Qatar and the3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum at our dedicated children’s activities space.

What will Qatar Museums highlight this year?

This year, Qatar Museums will be highlighting our latest releases covering ongoing exhibitions, including Jeff Koons: Lost in America and Christian Dior Designer of Dreams. We are also excited to introduce Al Shaqab: Legacy of Arabian Horses and our most recent children’s book Sirenia: A Little Dugong’s Tale, which offers an environmental message to the youngest readers, as well as our award-winning titles KAWS: HE EATS ALONE and the National Museum of Qatar book. Last but not least, we have special prices on selected books exclusively for QM booth visitors.
