Hosted by Centro Cultural La Moneda in Santiago, Your Ghosts Are Mine: Expanded Cinemas, Amplified Voices brings together extracts of films and video installations by more than 40 artists and filmmakers from the Arab world, Africa and Southeast Asia, presenting an immersive journey through contemporary experiences of community, memory, transnational displacement and exile. Structured around eight thematic environments—Deserts, Ruins, Borders, Exile, Futurism, Cosmos, Fires, Fantasma—the exhibition creates a series of distinct spatial and cinematic experiences.
Following acclaimed presentations at the Venice Biennale (2024) and at Mathaf (2025), this groundbreaking exhibition travels to Latin America for the first time.
The works explore political upheaval, capitalism, war, grief and loss, among other themes. Placed in dialogue with Latin America, a region likewise shaped by migration, displacement and profound social transformation, Your Ghosts Are Mine reveals unexpected connections between seemingly distant realities. Together, these works invite visitors to consider the shared questions, emotions and human experiences that transcend geographical, political and cultural boundaries.
In parallel with the exhibition, the National Cinematheque of Chile will present a film programme from 4 to 6 September, featuring feature-length and short films by some of the artists and filmmakers participating in the exhibition.
Exhibition Organisers
Produced by Qatar Museums, Your Ghosts Are Mine is co-organised by Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art and the future Art Mill Museum, in collaboration with Doha Film Institute (DFI), as a legacy of the 2025 Year of Culture partnership with Chile, in collaboration with Chile's Ministry of Cultures, the Arts and Heritage. It is curated by Matthieu Orléan, artistic collaborator at La Cinémathèque française.
The Years of Culture initiative, chaired by Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, spearheads long-lasting cultural partnerships between Qatar and other nations. The presentation of Your Ghosts Are Mine in Chile reflects the initiative’s focus on creating meaningful cultural exchange, building enduring relationships, and using contemporary art and cinema to foster dialogue across borders.
