The Prize trophy should embody the essence and values of Design Doha—hope, innovation, and the transformative power of design in the Arab world. It must stand as both a symbol of excellence and a lasting representation of unity, peace, and sustainability. Designers are encouraged to explore materials, forms, and concepts that reflect cultural depth, artisanal mastery, and forward-looking vision, ensuring the trophy becomes a timeless emblem of achievement and inspiration.
The Open Call
Design a distinguished trophy that will serve as the official Design Doha Prize trophy, to be awarded to winners across the biennial’s four categories.
Key Requirements
- One core design to inspire all four categories.
- Trophy height: 12 inches.
- Must be engraved with the title “Design Doha Prize”.
- Must reflect Design Doha’s branding guidelines and official colors (color codes provided in the brand guidelines).
- Use of high-quality and durable materials.
Guidelines
Submissions will be evaluated on creativity, originality, adherence to the theme, craftsmanship, and the ability to inspire connection through design.
Applicants must submit:
- Design Concept – A brief explanation of inspiration and design approach.
- Illustrations – 3D renderings of the trophy design(s), including views of all four trophies, plus technical drawings with detailed material descriptions.
- Materials – Selection aligned with Design Doha’s branding guidelines (attachment provided).
- Originality – All proposals must be original and free of any intellectual property infringement.
Eligibility
Open to all design professionals and teams based in or from the MENASA region.
Proposal Requirements
Designers are required to submit:
- Concept Sketches and Renderings – Visual representations of the proposed trophy, including multiple views showing form, material use, and how light is incorporated.
- Material and Production Details – Description of proposed materials, their relevance to the theme, and ecological, ethical, and cultural considerations. Include proposed manufacturing methods and production timeline.
- Design Rationale – (max 500 words) explaining how the design reflects 2026, its cultural context, and focus on sustainability and ethics. Demonstrate how the trophy embodies hope, resilience, and innovation.
- Dimensions and Practicality – Specifications on size, weight, and practicality for display, storage, and presentation. Include ease of presentation during award ceremonies.
- Sustainability Plan – Statement on sustainable practices, including eco-friendly materials and processes.
- Budget Estimate – Estimated costs for design, production, and manufacturing, including materials and related expenses.
