Program Structure:
Day 1
History of the Foley Craft: Introduction to the work of a Foley artist: what recording consists of and how a Foley stage is divided and organized.
Theoretical explanation of the recording method and technique, screening of a classic Pro Tools Foley session of my projects, organization of tracks and files,
Screening of a short movie and spot session to understand what the Foley artist should record in relation to what happens in the scene, followed by practical application of the acquired knowledge: participants will rehearse and record steps, manipulation of objects and clothing in a short film.
Day 2
Participants will actively participate in a recording session, taking turns performing, capturing sounds, or using Pro Tools for sound recording and sound editing.
Once all the material has been recorded, we will move on to the editing phase, including filesynchronization and an explanation of the fastest and most effective method for synchronizing large numbers of files. As a last step we will make a premix of the synchronized session, using volumes, equalizing and panning.
Day 3
We'll be joining the sound design and mixing workshop incorporating the session we recorded and edited into their sound design session and understanding how natural sounds and foley sounds interact by adding the right reverb for both interiors and exteriors ambience, how to integrate production sound with foley sound, and then discuss it together.
INTENDED OUTCOMES:
A foley sound reel
