In hands-on workshop participants will discover the art and technique of soft draping with a focus on working on the bias. Participants will be guided to use gravity in harmony with their sense of sight and touch, creating a fluid and balanced approach to design. They will also be introduced to a technique popularized in the 1920s by designers such as Madame Grès and Halston, learning how to apply it by draping a tube dress on a mannequin.
This workshop takes inspiration from the draped looks featured in the FTA Threads of Impact exhibition and explores the art of soft draping on the bias.
