Some of the masterpieces in the museum's collection are made up of various types of material, including metalwork, ceramics, jewellery, woodwork, textiles, coins and glass. Each of these materials have different properties or characteristics that can be observed.

Students will learn where each material came from and the processes used to create the beautiful masterpieces. In addition, they will have a chance to compare the art pieces at MIA with everyday objects they are familiar with.
