This discussion will reflect on the processes through which architectural language is developed, and how its derivatives emerge from the specificity and peculiarities of place.

Marina Tabassum

Tabassum is a Bangladeshi architect and educator. In her work, she seeks to establish a language of architecture that is contemporary yet reflectively rooted to place, always against an ecological rubric containing climate, context, culture and history. She received the coveted Aga Khan Award for Architecture twice in 2016 and 2025.

Fahad Bin Mohammed Al-Attiyah

Al-Attiyah worked as a government legal counsel, food security planner, organiser of UNFCCC-COP18, and a diplomat with a strong military background. These areas of expertise have all shaped his outlook as a recognised supporter of global environmental issues and sustainability driven by a true passion for service. He also founded Caravane Earth Foundation to support local communities all over the world which aims to promote social, cultural, and ecological transformation in the space of architecture, agriculture, textiles, and creativity.
