Journey through time as seen through the eyes of a wise, long-lived turtle.

In this storytelling and timeline programme, participants will explore key moments in local and global history through the eyes of a long-lived turtle. Using the turtle’s lifespan as a metaphor for continuity and memory, participants will research and creatively narrate milestones in Qatari and world history, from ancient times to today, as if told by the turtle and how it impacted in one way or another the marine environment.

Programme Outline:

  • Introduction to Turtles: Participants learn about turtles, their importance, and the reason the turtle was chosen as the central theme of the exhibition.
  • Exploring History: A selection of key events from Qatar’s environmental, social, and political history, as well as the history of the Gulf and the world are introduced.
  • Creative Turtle Design: Each participant draws their own turtle, imagining its appearance, main traits, and the topic their turtle will speak about.
  • Story Development: After gathering information and engaging in group discussions, each group will write the first draft of their story.
  • Storytelling: Participants read their drafts and receive support in refining and editing their stories. They will then merge their individual stories into one collective story narrated by a single turtle.
  • Final Presentation: Participants will record their story in their own voices, which will be turned into an animated video to be presented to the public, along with taking photos of the participants.
