Rural land and foodscapes are under pressure globally, our food systems are strained and biodiversity is under pressure from intense forms of development. These issues are arguably even more important in Qatar, a small nation set on a peninsula with a major dependency on other regions for its basic food necessities, and yet the country is making steps to try and critically think through its countryside challenges.
During this field trip, participants will learn about innovative food production in Qatar and the links with indigenous biodiversity.
They will also explore the two key environments, showcasing how conservation and sustainable agriculture are shaping the future of the Qatari countryside.
