Join Ancestral Registry, a youth-led oral history workshop that invites participants to record stories about their grandparents and elders, exploring everyday life, values, struggles, and customs from earlier generations in Qatar.

By documenting these narratives through storytelling and digital tools, the workshop aims to preserve family heritage, strengthen intergenerational relationships, and contribute to a community memory archive reflecting diverse Qatari experiences.

  1. Participants will attend a storytelling workshop where they will learn the basics of oral history and interviewing. Sample stories and guiding questions will be provided to inspire their approach.
  2. After the session, youth will complete a family reflection assignment, in which each participant interviews an elder family member using audio or video tools.
  3. Youth will gather again virtually to discuss their recordings and refining them with facilitators’ assistance. Each story will be categorised by theme, such as migration, education, food, or resilience.
