Presented by Dr Guillaime de Vaulx, this talk will address the challenges in Qatar’s agricultural ecosystem based on natural existing conditions.
Dr de Vaulx will explain how agriculture expanded, covering four periods: before the 20th century and the prevalence of al-Ahsa’ oasis; the scattered agricultural projects before 1970; the foundation of the agricultural system in the 1970s; and the food security turn after 2017.
The last part of the talk will centre around a holistic agricultural system tailored to Qatar’s specific conditions.
Doors open at 6.30pm, followed by a guided tour of the Qatar rooms of Countryside: a Place to Live, Not to Leave at 7pm. The talk with Guillaume de Vaulx will follow at 7.30pm with a question and answer session shortly after.
