A treasure trove of objects from the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA), Doha.

This is the first comprehensive work on MIA’s collection, with 15 in depth essays and over 170 catalogue entries by experts in the field, including new research and never before published objects. Produced to accompany the Relaunch of the Museum in 2022, the book is both an invaluable reference tool and the perfect gift for art lovers all over the world.

This beautifully designed publication takes you on a journey through the Islamic world with artworks spanning 1400 years and three continents, from Spain, the Middle East, India and Southeast Asia. Featuring around 400 images, including stunning close-up details, the book showcases masterpieces from the collection of the Museum of Islamic Art, ranging from the finest metalwork, manuscripts, carpets, textiles, jewellery and ceramics.

The brilliant blue colour that links the spine to the inside section dividers and punctuates some text elements on the pages is inspired from the lapis lazuli pigment of early Qur’anic manuscripts and ceramics. Qatar Museums has also produced a limited quantity of the book with blue coloured edges to create a special edition to celebrate the 2022 Relaunch.
