A Falcon’s Eye, published on the occasion of the exhibition at the Museum of Islamic Art – held from 2 August 2020 to 10 April 2021 – celebrates the late Sheikh Saoud Al Thani, a passionate conservationist and collector who made an invaluable contribution to Qatar Museums' collections. The book showcases 100 of his most important acquisitions, including rare first edition manuscripts, artefacts from ancient Egypt, exquisite jewellery and vintage cameras.

Also featured are personal tributes from family, friends and colleagues, who recall Sheikh Saoud’s many achievements, including his work to protect endangered species. These memories are accompanied by portraits from leading contemporary photographers, which capture the spirit of this modern renaissance man of the Arab world.
