Frances Gillespie is an author, teacher and coordinator of the Qatar Archaeology Project. She has contributed much to the published work on Qatar, particularly about its history and natural history. Her books include "Discovering Qatar" as well as field guides on the birds of Qatar and a series of books on the flora and fauna of the country. She has also published "Blue Jackal: And Other Tales from Islamic Lands", a collection of animal stories inspired by the collections on display at the Museum of Islamic Art.
Frances Gillespie
Author and teacher Frances Gillespie is dedicated to sharing Qatar’s history, wildlife and folklore with her readers. She also worked as the coordinator for the Qatar archaeology project.

Gillespie donated this medal, struck for the opening of the National Museum in 1975.
