Cosmix Underwater Research Ltd. is a marine exploration company specialising in underwater archaeology. One main area of its work is the recovery of artefacts from shipwrecks.

In 2004, Cosmix played a leading role in the excavation of the Cirebon shipwreck. The Cirebon shipwreck was discovered by fishermen off the north coast of Java, Indonesia, in 2003.

Experts date the trading vessel wreck to the late 9th or early 10th century. Cosmix retrieved Chinese ceramics, Middle Eastern glassware and goods from Southeast Asia from its cargo. Its discovery revealed early maritime trade routes that linked the Middle East to China and Southeast Asia.

Today, many of the artefacts from this shipwreck are part of the Qatar Museums collection.

Sasha Leukhin and Luc Heymans, are renowned for their excavation of the Cirebon Wreck. In an act of remarkable generosity, Leukhin and Heymans chose to donate these jewels to Qatar Museums. This contribution is formally recognised as The Sasha Leukhin and Luc Heymans Donation, Cosmix Underwater Research Ltd.. It stands as a testament to their ongoing commitment to preserving and sharing cultural heritage.
