Msheireb Cultural Forum (M7) Internship Programme 1

Period of Internship: 6 months

About This Internship

M7 will offer two primary programmes for interns to work under a project lead:

Specialist area: Community Programming

Qualification Required: Bachelor’s Degree

Skills Required

  • Planning, communication, on-the-ground support, technology solutions, and outreach strategy

There are two primary programmes the intern can work on under the project leads.

Year of Culture Residency Programme in Indonesia

M7 x Year of Culture collaboration:

This collaborative residency allows Qatari product and fashion designers to discover specific traditions, materials, and know-how from local craft masters in Indonesia.

Each Qatari designer will be paired with an Indonesian designer, hoping to evoke idea exchanges, knowledge transmissions, and long-term collaborations. Each programme will have 1-2 pairs of designers.

This hybrid programme spans three months (two weeks on-site in Indonesia). It consists of various activities, ranging from group discussions, sharing sessions by experts, skill apprentices, designers’ studio visits, and the development of product prototypes.

Led by residency managers throughout the period of the project, their concerns lie in responsible production (sustainable materials and waste management), and designers will also be challenged to take these issues into account.

Fashioning an Empire

MIA x M7 Collaboration

M7 is to collaborate with MIA Curatorial Department on the final section of the exhibition at MIA, Fashion an Empire that has opened on October 2022. The section will present contemporary designers' creations inspired by the original works on display in the exhibit. MIA and M7 will collaborate with local creatives, inviting them to draw inspiration from the museum's collection displayed in the exhibition.

The intern will support the Project Lead (M7 staff) in conducting the following for the Year of Culture Project:

  • Oversee the designer’s work process throughout the period of production and report back any logistical/technical or procedural questions they may have;
  • Work alongside the Year of Culture team and Prodigy team (Project Organiser) to support and coordinate workshops led by the residency managers;
  • Ensure Marketing Collaterals by the Marketing team are in line with the project and ensure all respective M7 departments are updated on the project's progress.

The intern will support the Project Lead (M7 staff) in conducting the following for the MIA Project:

  • Oversee the designer’s work process throughout the period of production and report back any logistical/technical or procedural questions they may have;
  • Coordinate with the exhibitions team from M7 and MIA team on the exhibition display of their work;
  • Coordinate with the marketing team from M7 and MIA on the promotion of their work.

Period of Internship: 3 months

About This Internship

​The intern will be asked to work on different tasks in those three months to learn as many skills as possible: how to run programs, organize folders, run workshops, and engage with creatives.

Specialist area: Coordination

Qualification Required: Bachelor’s Degree

Skills Required

  • Coordinating;
  • Organizing;
  • Learning new skills;
  • Running workshops.

The Intern will be engaged in the following:

  • ​ ​obtain knowledge on how to structure programs and run them;
  • obtain knowledge on how to run workshops and engage with creatives​;
  • obtain knowledge on how to organize files and plan for workshops. ​

Period of Internship: 3 months

About This Internship

​​To have an intern for a short time period to work with the M7 director and admin coordinator on daily tasks and research.

Specialist area: Business

Qualification Required: Bachelor’s Degree

Skills Required

  • Research skills

The Intern will be engaged in the following:

  • ​Work on research for the business and development. Sponsorship opportunities and strategy;
  • ​ Work on research for the business and development. Sponsorship opportunities and strategy;
  • Process invoices and work with finance
  • Process purchase requisitions and work with procurement;
  • Take meetings notes, and track the tasks and actions.

Msheireb Cultural Forum (M7) Internship Programme 4

Period of Internship: 3 month

About This Internship

The major event in Design Doha's opening week (late February 2024) will be a public forum of Qatar-based and international designers at M7. Collaboratively organised by the team, this one-day event will situate Doha's design sector in a global context. Particular emphasis will be placed on strategies of regenerative design and future forecasting. The event is conceived as a pendant to Tasmeem, the academic conference organized by VCU Qatar, which will also be held during the run of Design Doha (date to be determined).

Qualification Required: Bachelor’s Degree

Skills Required

  • Organizational skills

The Intern will be engaged in the following:

  • Develop the artistic and educational themes for the forum;
  • Search and contact speakers and workshop facilitators;
  • Develop logistics for the forum from timeline and budget to day-to-day talks operations;
  • Work with the marketing team to design and develop the marketing outreach and advertising.
