Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art Internship 1: Exhibitions

Period of Internship: 3 Months

About this internship

​The Exhibition Department in the museum is a vital component responsible for the planning, implementation and management of exhibitions and displays that showcase the museum's collections, artefacts and educational content. This department plays a crucial role in highlighting the museum's mission, engaging visitors and preserving cultural heritage.

The intern will gain hands-on experience in the various aspects of exhibition planning, design and implementation.

Specialist area: Graphic Design / Painting and Printmaking / Interior Design

Qualification Required: Bachelor’s Degree

  • Language: English, Arabic preferred
  • Microsoft Office 365 Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Good working knowledge of Adobe InDesign is necessary. Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop (preferred)

The intern will:

  • Practically apply their design skills to develop and execute upcoming exhibition identities
  • Develop the presentation packs for exhibition identity
  • Develop all internal and external graphics in collaboration with the designated exhibition designers, including, but not limited to, labels, signage and wayfinding, wall text and graphics
  • Work on a graphic timeline for one of the galleries for the upcoming Fall 2023 Exhibitions
  • Develop the identity for the Fall 2023 exhibitions in collaboration with the exhibition designers and curators;
  • Create and develop exhibition guide templates
  • Develop exhibition design and identity for upcoming exhibitions
  • Work on construction and site supervision of upcoming exhibitions

Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art Internship 2: Museum Guides

Period of Internship: 6 Months

About this internship

​The intern will provide guided tours for museum visitors, including on weekends.

Period of Internship: 3 Months

About this internship

The intern will gain practical experience in developing engaging and informative programmes and tours catered to diverse museum audiences. Through hands-on involvement, the intern will have the opportunity to conceptualise, plan and execute interactive experiences that effectively communicate the museum's collection to visitors.
