About this internship
Period of Internship: 3 months
Location: Qatar Museums Headquarters
The programme contributes directly to museum content development by engaging participants in research streams aligned with the museum’s thematic priorities, including social history, community traditions, architectural evolution, and documented transformations of the city over time. Participants will support the curatorial and content teams by preparing precise research outputs that inform exhibition storylines, interpretive materials, educational content, and future documentation needs.
In addition, the programme provides practical exposure to archival and documentation processes. Participants will assist in organising historical references, timelines, oral history summaries, and research notes, helping to build a coherent and accessible knowledge base that supports long-term museum planning.
By the end of the programme, participants will produce concise research summaries, briefs, and content inputs that directly contribute to the museum’s mission of preserving, interpreting, and sharing Al Khor’s cultural identity with the public.
Specialist area: History Specialisation
Qualification required: University/College Student
Skills required: Advanced literacy skills, including reading and writing.
The intern will:
- Develop historical research skills through the collection, review, and analysis of secondary sources related to the history of Al Khor;
- Contribute to Al Khor Museum content development by supporting research focused on local history, heritage, and community life;
- Support archival and documentation processes by assisting in organising historical references, timelines, oral history summaries, and research notes;
- Prepare concise research summaries, briefs, and content inputs for museum use.
