MIA offers learning opportunities for all ages, as well as teachers wishing to further develop their careers. The collection provides a unique opportunity to explore a range of curriculum-related topics and approaches to learning. A dedicated team of museum educators and staff welcome school groups for tours, workshops, events and activities throughout the school year.

The museum offers a range of programmes so it's easy to find something that suits your schedule and interests, from tours of current exhibitions, to art classes and object handling. A wide range of learning materials is available and those can be useful before visiting a programme or after you've attended. Find out more about learning resources at MIA here.
Walk-in tours and workshops
In addition to the programmes listed below, MIA offers drop-in tours in a variety of subjects. No booking is required, just turn up! Walk-in gallery tours take place every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 2pm on the following subjects:
Monday – Science
Tuesday – Techniques (from 24 June 2018 onwards)
Thursday – MIA Architecture
Friday & Saturday – Museum Highlights
Workshops are offered for all ages throughout the year in a wide variety of disciplines including geometry, illumination, miniature painting, plaster carving, weaving, clay and printmaking, whilst families can enjoy drop-in (calligraphy workshops (third Saturday of the month, 1pm) as well as a variety of library events.
